Hello everyone, we are the Deep Fake performance team! We’re preparing to present our show at the Festival Off Avignon — the largest theatre festival in the world. Participating in it is a chance to step onto the international stage, find new partners, critics, and producers, and introduce audiences to bold experiments at the intersection of art and technology.
We believe that theatre today is a space for conversations about the future.
Deep Fake is an attempt to reflect on where technology is leading us and how we are changing along the way.

The performances will take place from July 16 to 26 at LaScierie Theatre.

«Deep Fake» is an experimental performance blending documentary theater and performance art, immersing the audience in the confined and monotonous process of filming digital avatars. The setting resembles a studio space: simple props, green screen, soft lighting. The performers, almost like machines, follow strict instructions—they sit motionless, speak with half-smiles, and breathe through their noses—revealing their powerlessness in the face of the mechanistic demands of the process. As the performance progresses, the boundaries between reality and fiction blur, creating a growing sense of isolation and derealization for the audience. Gradually, the process itself transforms into an exploration of human crisis, touching on themes of alienation and the breakdown of genuine connections in the digital age.

The project’s creative team, together with local media, developed a special project featuring the character "chromakeyman," which both aligned with the main theme and carried its own unique storyline.

More than 10 events (including football match viewings, Tbilisi Open Air, and the ZEG Storytelling Festival) were accompanied by performative appearances of the green man.

A separate large advertising campaign featuring chromakeyman was launched on billboards across Tbilisi.
